All your data is kept secure and private:
| • |
TLS/SSL 128-256 bit encryption prevents hackers from capturing passwords. This is the same security used by banks and the military. |
| • |
It automatically keeps backups of all changes to grades, attendance, and transcripts, which you may access anytime. So if you accidentally reveal your password to a hacker, you can review any changes and restore your own data. |
| • |
We also backup our servers every night, in case of hardware failure. (If you are hosting your own data, you must backup your own server.) |
| • |
SnapGrades automatically identifies suspicious logins and alerts you immediately by email if someone else logs into your account. |
| • |
All data is password protected, and we never share personally identifiable data with anyone. SnapGrades is compliant with FERPA and COPPA (see our Terms of Service). |
| • |
Our data center has 6 to 12 technical staff on duty at all times, 24x7x365. The facility is protected against intruders, theft and fire. |
| • |
Because SnapGrades is internet-based, you can always access your account from any location, even if your school network goes down or your computer dies (unless you are hosting data on your own server). |
| • |
Our servers have redundant components — hard-drives, routing equipment, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), backup generators, air conditioners and filters — so if any component fails, you can continue to use your gradebook without interruption or loss of data. |
| • |
All our staff go through rigorous background-checks. |
Spyware
The main security threat to worry about is spyware, which hackers use to capture your passwords as you type them (regardless of where your data is hosted). So be sure to keep your computers protected!
Please contact us if you have any concerns or questions about security and privacy of your data.
